Abstract
West Asian studies and research are being carried out among the area researchers in the domestic educational and research centers using a variety of research approaches. The main reason for using research approaches in scientific research is to study the field more thoroughly and deeply. The diversity of research conducted in addition to the subjective diversity is due to the variety of use of different research approaches. In the present article, 82 Persian-language scientific articles in the period of 10 years from 2009 to 2019 are studied based on the study of frequency distribution in six research approaches. The mainstream approach, and in particular the theory of realism, has made the most of research papers. In this research, the use of network approach is suggested in the last section due to numerous explanatory weaknesses in theories present in regional studies. An in-depth look at the network and linkage between government and non-government units in the wider West Asian network order and the interaction of the two macro and regional levels in a concurrent link are among the positive features and explanatory features of this new approach in regional studies.
